Linguamatics Users Conference Attracts Participation From Leading Pharmaceutical Companies And Previews New I2E 3.0 Software

(1 November, 2007, Cambridge, UK) Linguamatics Ltd, the leader in natural language processing (NLP) for life science research, held its Users Conference in Boston, MA, October 18-19. Participants from top pharma and life science organizations presented insights into working with Linguamatics technology and shared best practice for mining text to inform business-critical decision-making. The agenda featured speakers from a range of Linguamatics customers including Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly and Biogen Idec. Further highlights included an expert panel discussion of current challenges and opportunities in literature mining, and live hands-on workshops enabling attendees to deepen their understanding of problem solving using I2E.

Conference attendees were given the first view of the new I2E 3.0 software, providing a flexible text mining environment to address diverse knowledge discovery problems. Attendees learned how pre-defined smart queries can enable sophisticated searching with minimum effort, how enhanced results reporting provides a rapid overview of extracted information, and how the new admin GUI streamlines user and system management. The software will be released at the end of the year.

Feedback from attendees for the new capabilities in 3.0 was highly encouraging with comments such as: "I2E 3.0 checks all the boxes in terms of our requirements, and more...", "The new querying capabilities add significant power - I can't wait", "Multiple querying is great", "The new admin interface is a good facilitator that will expand options for end users", "Impressive!".

"Our Users Conference is a highlight of 2007, a year that has seen significant development at Linguamatics in terms of business growth and technology achievement," said Roger Hale, COO and Co-founder of Linguamatics. "The conference gave us an excellent opportunity to listen to the Linguamatics community, important for ensuring that we continue to deliver the right capabilities for effective decision support."
