What's new in I2E 3.2?

Improved performance, enhanced querying and better usability

Linguamatics continues to enhance and innovate its enterprise text mining software with the latest release of I2E, version 3.2. New features include improved performance and enhanced querying capabilities, as well as many usability improvements.

Improved Performance

• Reduced network bandwidth usage, e.g. when loading published queries
• Faster interactive and batch querying

Query Power Enhancements

• New word class that can be used as a linguistic wildcard in queries
  • Augments the other linguistic wildcard classes (e.g. entity: basic)
  • Can be used to find the most frequent words in a particular context
  • For the word class, the preferred term is case insensitive, which provides useful clustering of results
• Phrases can be unordered
• As well as finding terms in a phrase in the order they appear in the query, I2E can now find them in any order
• Reduces the number of distinct query patterns required
  
• Phrases can span multiple sentences
• You can find parts of phrases in a text block longer than a single sentence or region. For example you can look for a phrase, part of which is in the title of a paper and the rest is in the following paragraph
• Independent word distance and sentence distance
• Improved disambiguation further reduces unwanted hits
• Much improved gene disambiguation algorithm
• Ability to provide zero confidence synonyms for particular classes
• Zero confidence synonyms apply to specific classes in an ontology to set the disambiguation score for each hit. At query time you can use disambiguation thresholds to filter false positives from the results, e.g. the word "age" is a zero confidence synonym for the Gene AGE

Usability Improvements

• I2E Pro users can now publish queries and results for other users
  • This capability was only previously available to administrators
• Revised and more consistent menus in I2E Pro
• Auto resizing of components during query editing
  • The query components automatically resize as you add more elements to the query
• Improved paging of results
• Alternative lists can now be edited in the I2E Pro user interface
• Insertion at position
  • Allows you to insert a new word, class etc. in the position you want it
