As healthcare evolves towards value-based care many healthcare organizations are realizing the value of unstructured data - because many important contributing factors on why patients are improving or worsening are often hidden away in text. Better patient outcomes are reliant on the combination of the unstructured data with the structured to give a true 360-degree view of the patient. Significant insights can be gained from clinician notes within medical records, Electronic Health Record (EHR) attachments such as radiology and pathology reports, and laboratory reports. Simon is responsible for Linguamatics’ healthcare products and solutions including applications in the areas of clinical risk models, population health, and medical research. Previously, Simon was Marketing Director, Translational Medicine at IDBS/InforSense where he was responsible for the company’s market analysis, product marketing and Go To Market strategy in healthcare analytics and translational medicine. Prior to IDBS, he was Director of Product Management at BioWisdom, where he was responsible for delivery of customer projects using the company’s ontology products. He also worked as a senior product manager at LION Bioscience and Synomics, and as a software developer at the UK’s Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. Simon has degrees from Aston University and Cranfield Institute of Technology.
Kathleen Nogueira, Healthcare Application Specialist, Linguamatics
Kathleen (Kathy) Nogueira joined Linguamatics in early 2017 after spending many years using only structured data in her prior healthcare quality, population health and analytics positions. She spent many years in a hospital Care Management department as a Data Manager, setting up systems to collect data for all regulatory requirements for quality, risk management, infection control and numerous other departments. She was also a software developer and has worked on Radiology and Lab information systems as well as HL7 interfaces. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Computing from Rochester Institute of Technology, and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration. In her spare time, she dabbles in arts & crafts.
