Why should I use I2E?

Conventional keyword search returns whole documents that contain a search phrase. Which means you then have to read the document itself.

I2E is different. It uses powerful Natural Language Processing (NLP) to actually read those documents for you. With its sophisticated ability to understand the many different ways in which a single concept can be represented linguistically, it can extract the actual information you need – the key facts and relationships – in response to normal search phrases and queries.

With I2E, you can answer questions and discover knowledge that would be impossible to find using any conventional method. You can get to these insights from a wide-variety of text sources including scientific literature, electronic health records (EHRs), patents, news feeds, clinical trials data and proprietary content.

Search in content

It’s easy to plug domain-specific knowledge into I2E using thesauri, taxonomies or ontologies which describe the concepts and relationships in your particular field. And you can search your own data alongside that from other commercially available sources.

Connect your sources

Queries can run simultaneously across multiple data sources, whether they're located locally, in the Cloud, or elsewhere. Results from all sources are then integrated, sorted and clustered for faster analysis and better decision support.

Straight to the answer

I2E instantly delivers high value, relevant, reusable knowledge. Tabular reports summarize and structure the results in a compact, clustered format with drill down to supporting evidence. Results can also be visualized in tables and graphs, or exported to other applications.

Flexible

The I2E Express interface is easy to use and similar in appearance to a conventional search engine. For more advanced uses, I2E Pro lets the user view, construct, and manage sophisticated queries using an intuitive drag and drop interface.

Interactive

I2E makes NLP-based text search and text mining intuitive, but also interactive. Its flexibility, transparency, speed, and the way it delivers structured results mean that you can refine queries on-the-fly.

Integrations

I2E can play a key role when embedding information extraction into more complex workflows. The platform incorporates a comprehensive RESTful Web Service API (WSAPI) that gives access to the majority of its functionality, and it integrates easily with workflow software such as Pipeline Pilot.

Scalable

I2E is scalable to millions of documents and terabytes of data – the whole of MEDLINE, for example – and works with large documents such as patents. It can even combine many thousands of search terms to identify complex concepts and classes – for example, of genes or proteins.

Quality and accuracy

Wildcard features allow open questions and searches for entities, verbs and unknown relationships. More distant and indirect relationships can be detected by combining result sets or visualizing information networks, to synthesize new knowledge.

Versatility

I2E offers a spectrum of capabilities that can be applied flexibly to address different text search and mining challenges. Users match the approach to their specific task and combine it with complementary techniques to get the answers they need.
