Digital transformation often induces a disruption in our systems, in the way we use technology, human intelligence and processes to enhance business performance. Life science organizations are generally embracing the necessary digital revolution but digital transformation demands data transformation, which includes developing strategies to access information buried in text.
Data-driven decision making
During the upcoming Bio-IT World Conference & Expo, Jane Reed, Linguamatics Head of Life Science Strategy, will present a talk on "Natural Language Processing: enabling data-driven rather than document-driven decision making". Natural Language processing (NLP) allows organizations to focus on data-driven rather than document-driven decision making in a timely manner. The technology is already helping people in life sciences and healthcare, even non-programmers, to transform unstructured text into actionable structured data that can be rapidly visualized and analyzed, for decision support from bench to bedside.
This year, precision medicine is under the spotlight, alongside Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), data storage and management and more. During the three-day event, there will be in-depth technical presentations in 17 tracks, 14 workshops, 3 expert-judged awards programs and speakers from 40+ countries. The presentations and hands-on workshops will allow participants to share information and best practices in the fields of life sciences, biotech, pharma, and the use of various technologies.
After winning Bio-IT World’s “Best of Show Judges’ “ prize with iScite 2.0 in 2018, this year Linguamatics is among the finalists of the “Inaugural Innovative Practices Awards” for our project with Novo Nordisk on "Integrating Natural Language Processing to generate actionable insights from real world data". The objectives of Novo Nordisk were to accelerate, automate and scale the process of mining unstructured and structured data sources to provide enhanced access to the extracted information for superior and actionable insights.
The awards winners will be announced on Thursday, April 18 during the plenary keynote session. Stay tuned!
