Online workshop: Extracting cancer insights from pathology reports
One of a series of interactive, online workshops to help you get the most out of I2E, give you the opportunity to "ask the expert" and cover some detailed hints and tips.

Cancer information is one of the most common areas for NLP to be applied to in healthcare, providing key insights into disease progression and long term outcomes. This type of data is highly relevant in both clinical care and research and is therefore of interest therefore to many groups. This healthcare-focused workshop will be led by one of the leaders in the Linguamatics healthcare team with significant experience in text mining cancer information and will demonstrate relevant I2E features and querying examples. Participants will also have the opportunity to submit specific questions in advance which will be addressed during the interactive session – so nothing confidential please!
During the online workshop you will learn how to:
- Extract numeric cancer attributes such as tumor size and cancer stage from pathology reports
- Use the TNM stage to extract cancer stage
- Extract histology components for ICDO coding
- Extract biomarker data
- Gain more confidence and understanding of using text mining in I2E for cancer related documents
Who should attend?
Clinical NLP analysts who build queries in I2E, for example extracting clinical information from medical records. It is assumed that you will be an active user of I2E yourself, either during an evaluation or as an ongoing Linguamatics customer.
